Veteran First Cousins

Although they look like World War I doughboys, these first cousins were both born in 1903 and couldn’t serve in the Army until after the Great War. These two Army photos were likely taken in the early 1920s. The photo on the left was signed and sent to an aunt in California.
  • Max V. Torres, at left, is the son of Apolonio and Aurora Torres. He probably signed up in New Mexico but lived in Los Angeles, California, as an adult.
  • Joe Sanchez, the son of Domitila and Moises Sanchez, lived most of his life in California.
If you know more about servicemen from this era, please share in Comments below. Also, contact Maurine Pool at if you have photos and information about members of our family who served in the military during World War II. Many of them served.
