The couple in the picture are Juan José and Sara Montoya, who got married in Tucson, Ariz., on July 7, 1920. The groom met his bride in Arizona after he got out of the Army. They later moved to California.
Below is a copy of the marriage record of Juan Jose’s parents, Monica and David Montoya, who married on June 20, 1887, in Socorro, New Mexico. Monica died when Juan Jose was a boy.
Note: Record shows David's mother was Marcelina Baca and his father was Marcos Montoya, "dif." That’s short for difunto, or deceased.
